2. Safety
2.1. Introduction
Observe the instructions in this manual before you start working with the product. If you fail to follow the instructions from this manual you can put yourself and others in danger.
Always comply with the information, such as labels and the nameplate, attached directly to the product and keep the information in a legible condition.
Comply with the most stringent of either the applicable laws and regulations or guidance from this manual.
2.2. Intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse
Business Pro & Lite 3.0 are charge point models intended for charging electrical vehicles compatible with IEC 61851 Mode 3 definition and requirements. Electrical vehicles and cables used with this charge point should always be undamaged and in their original state.
The Business Pro & Lite 3.0 are especially suited for larger parking areas where multiple charge points are needed. The Business Pro & Lite use Smart Charging solutions to evenly distribute the energy consumption throughout the connected charge points.
Dynamic Power Sharing can be realised by connecting multiple charge points with ethernet cables in a daisy-chain or star configuration. Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.
See chapter 3.6. Creating a project plan for more information.
The product must only be operated within its performance limits and under the permitted ambient conditions, see chapter 3.3. Technical specifications.
Use of adaptors, conversion adapters, or extension sets for cables is not allowed.
The following is considered foreseeable misuse:

2.3. Qualification of installer
Only authorised technicians are allowed to perform installation and maintenance of the product. They must possess the following qualifications:
are familiar and abide by the safety instructions and sections of this manual related to installation of the product;
are familiar with and abide by the applicable local, national and international laws and regulations;
are able to recognise the possible dangers of the product and take the necessary measures to protect persons and property.
2.4. Personal protective equipment (PPE)

2.5. Residual risks
Despite the safe design and construction of the product and the prescribed protective measures, the product possesses residual risks. This manual provides safety messages to indicate these risks. The formatting and appearance of safety messages that are dedicated to a particular section or sentence is explained in chapter 1. Preface. For the overall safety messages see chapter 2.7. Safety precautions.
2.6. How to handle in case of an emergency
Look after your own safety first. Only if possible, cut the power as soon as possible.
2.7. Safety precautions
2.7.1. Electricity
WARNING
Always cut the power to the circuit before installing the product. Inform the customer about the power cut beforehand.
The electrical system must be voltage-free during the entire installation procedure. Failing to do so can lead to serious injury or even death.
The installation procedure must be carried out by a trained electrician who works in accordance with all relevant local laws and regulations.
Do not install in potentially explosive atmospheres and/or zones with high electromagnetic radiation and/or in flood-prone areas.
The charge point is connected to the electricity grid and even if the equipment is switched off, hazardous voltages may be present at the input terminals.
Do not carry out any work in rainy conditions or when the humidity is above 95%.
The safety guidelines are intended to ensure correct installation and usage. Any failure to comply with the valid safety guidelines or instructions provided in this manual may result in fire, electrocution or severe injury.
The charge point is a product in safety class I and is supplied with an earth terminal for protection purposes.
The AC input terminal blocks must be fitted with an uninterruptible earth for protection purposes. Ensure that the connection cables are fitted with fuses and circuit breakers.
Never replace a protection component with another type that decreases the safety level. First check the full installation to determine if that component can be used with the existing installation components.
Before you switch on the charge point, check that the available power source matches the configuration settings of the product, as described in this manual.
Tripping of the MCB, RCD or RCBO could be caused by an earth fault, leakage or a defect contactor. If, after resetting the MCB, RCD or RCBO, the device cannot be activated or immediately trips again; please contact Shell Recharge or your installer.
The product does not contain internal parts that can be maintained by the user. Do not remove the front cover and do not operate the product until all panels are mounted.
Do not use the charge point when one or more components are damaged.
Do not immerse the charge point in water.
Do not use tap offs on live wires.
2.8. Labels
The warning labels and information signs on the product must be followed. The warning labels and information signs must be kept legible and must be replaced if necessary. For this purpose, contact the manufacturer.

3.4. Networking
All charge points will need to be connected to the backoffice. The preferred option is to use a 2G/4G cellular connection on the Business Pro charge point. Because of the built-in SIM card, the Business Pro charge point will automatically connect to the Shell Recharge backoffice when powering up.
If no sufficient signal is available (minimum -80 dBm) a mobile router needs to be installed and connected to the charge point with an Ethernet cable.
3.5. Smart Charging services
3.5.1. Phase rotation
Business Pro & Lite 3.0 charge points can be installed using a 3-phase power connection. However, many electric vehicles only use the first phase when charging. To avoid all 1-phase electric vehicles charging on the same phase, apply phase rotation to evenly distribute the energy consumption among all three phases. Phase rotation means alternating the order of the phase wires inside the charge point, at the bottom of the kWh meter. There are three possible phase rotation options. Good practice is to make sure that all three options are evenly distributed across all charge points.

3.5.2. Dynamic Power Sharing
The Business Line uses Dynamic Power Sharing to evenly distribute the energy consumption throughout the connected charge points.
Dynamic Power Sharing sets a static maximum allowed current consumption for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro. It can be realised by connecting multiple charge points with Ethernet cables in a daisy chain or star configuration. Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.

3.5.3. Dynamic Power Management for Business
Set a dynamic maximum current for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro, by measuring the energy consumption of the building.
The Business Pro & Lite charge points can be equipped with Dynamic Power Management for Business for optimal use of the available power.
The EMpro power meter measures the entire energy consumption at the main grid connection and the Business Pro is instructed what the maximum grid capacity is during the commissioning of the system.
The Business Pro aggregates all the charge points within the charge point network to make sure that the total energy consumption does not exceed the grid capacity limit.
Dynamic Power Management for Business sets a dynamic maximum current for all the charge points within a group of a Business Pro, by measuring the real-time energy consumption of the building and subtracting it with the total energy consumption being used by the charge points.
It can be realised by creating a network configuration of multiple charge points with Ethernet cables in either a daisy chain configuration, star configuration or a combination of the two.
Every group of charge points consists of one Business Pro and up to 40 Business Lites, depending on the configuration used.

3.6. Creating a project plan
Before installing the Business Pro & Lite 3.0 charge points, set up a project plan to make sure all the charge points are installed and interconnected correctly to realise the Smart Charging services, as described in chapter 3.5.
A project plan should contain at least the following information:
A blueprint of the parking lot with designated locations for all charge points;
A blueprint of the site with designated locations for all charge points, electrical wiring and protection and data cables;
Location of the Business Pro charge point;
Mounting method for each charge point;
Which charge points need to be 1-phase or 3-phase connected;
Backoffice connection method for the Pro charge point(s), there are three possibilities:
1. Cellular connection using the built-in SIM-card;
2. Ethernet connection to a nearby enabled internet router;
3. Ethernet connection to a separately available mobile router.
Necessity of Dynamic Power Sharing, determine the maximum current per phase per charge point and the maximum current per phase, all charge points combined;
Configuration of phase rotation for each charge point, if applicable;
Necessity of Dynamic Power Management for Business, determine the maximum current per phase per charge point and the maximum current per phase of the grid connection;
Distance between each charge point, for cable length calculations;
Interconnectivity configuration for all charge point groups. The charge points must be interconnected in groups to enable Dynamic Power Sharing or Dynamic Power Management for Business. There are multiple network configurations possible:

3.7. Nameplate

4. Transport and storage
4.1. Transport
Do not drop the product and avoid bumping when transporting the product. Excessive vibrations during transport can lead to loosened connections and can influence proper functioning of the product.
4.2. Storage
Disconnect the product from the power supply when storing the product.
Always store the product in environmental conditions that fall within the ranges as stated in chapter 3.3. Technical specifications. Place the product back in the shipping box or cover the product to minimise exposure to dust, moist and protect it from damages.

6.1. Power cable
The electrician is responsible for selecting the power cable type and size & safety components appropriate for the specific situation and according to local regulations;
Wire for the current at the maximum charging speed of the charge point under continuous load;
Calculate with a power factor of 0.8;
Calculate with a maximum allowable voltage drop over the cable that is specified by local regulations.*;
Use shielded cable for underground cabling;
Cable thickness: Ø 10 - 22.5 mm;
Wire cross section
Solid wires: maximum 10 mm2;
Stranded wires: 6 mm2 with end ferrules.
_NOTICE_ The charge point can be limited between 6 A and 32 A, as described in chapter 18.3. Switching on the charge point.
*Shell Recharge is not responsible for voltage fluctuation in the grid. The electric vehicle may be more sensitive to voltage drop.
6.2. Data cable and network switch (optional)
Ethernet cable: Standard CAT5 or CAT6 UTP ground cable with T568B-wired RJ45 connectors;
_NOTICE_ When using a network switch, make sure you use an unmanaged switch. The Business Pro charge point is a DHCP server and works best when connected to an unmanaged network. Managed switches could be a possible solution, but are more prone to faulty networks.
_NOTICE_
Only use a good quality wire stripper when stripping data cable wires. Never use a knife or cutters as these will damage the copper wires.
The maximum length of data cables between two devices is 100 meters.
Install underground data cables in PVC conduits.
TC06 - Always At least 20 cm apart or install power and data cables in separate conduits. (Check and refer to guideline).
6.3. Earthing
The electrician is always responsible for selecting a cable cross-section appropriate for the specific situation and according to regulations;
TN-system: PE-cable (PEN conductor is not allowed);
TT-system: separately installed earthing electrode < 100 Ohm spreading resistance.
IT-system: only 1-phase compatible. Transformer required for 3-phase.
6.4. Required nominal input voltage at charge point
Single phase*: 230 V ± 10 % - 50 Hz
Triple phase*: 400 V (3 × 230 V + N) ± 10% - 50 Hz
* 3-phase charge point can also be connected to a 1-phase installation. In this case the charge point can only charge on 1-phase. Only connect L1 on the terminal block of the charge point;
* Some electric vehicles can have a smaller voltage tolerance than 10%. If you experience charging issues and see that the voltage is around the edges of the 10% voltage tolerance, check if the electric vehicle type is compatible to charge on your measured voltage.
6.5. Electrical protection
MCB
B- or C-characteristic*;
The installer must select a suitable MCB to match the charging limit of the charge point, taking into account MCB manufacturer specifications, selectivity rules, and EV-Ready guidelines.
MCBs shall comply with one of the following standards: IEC 60898-1 or IEC 60947-2 or IEC 61009-1.
_NOTICE_ Due to rising temperatures that occur under continuous load, derating of the overcurrent protection can happen. This causes the breaker to trip sooner than the rated current when temperatures within the consumer unit rise above 40 ºC, which is practically always the case when charging a vehicle. Therefore, it is advised to set a lower charging limit of the charge point than the rated current of the protection of the charge point:
Set the limit at 80% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into an existing consumer unit between other electrical components.
Set the limit at 90% of the rated current, when the overcurrent protection is built into a dedicated enclosure with sufficient cooling, or when a simultaneity factor of 1 has been used in the design of the consumer unit.
* B characteristic is advised due to the maximum allowed cable length and cost perspective;
MCB requirements for EV-Ready according to EV17
Each charge point shall be individually protected by a circuit-breaker for overcurrent protection.
The circuit-breaker curve shall be:
curve B or C for single-phase charge point and mode 2 installations;
curve C for three-phase charge point.
Whatever the conditions of use (temperature,...), the design of the distribution of the installation will have to allow the supply of the power corresponding to the gauge of the charge point.
Overcurrent protection shall have a gauge of not less than 125 percent of the gauge of the charge point or the gauge of the supply in mode 2.
The charge point shall be protected by a circuit-breaker with a gauge:
20 A for a 16 A single or three-phase charge point;
25 A for a 20 A single or three-phase charge point;
32 A for a 25 A single or three-phase charge point;
40 A for a 32 A single or three-phase charge point;
80 A for a 63 A three-phase charge point.
RCD
According to IEC 60364-7-722:2015, this charge point must be installed with at least an RCD type A**
** The electrician is responsible to select a suitable RCD to match the local rules and regulations. Please note that these may be different from the international rules and regulations.
IEC 60364-7-722:2015, paragraph 722.531.2.101:
Except for circuits using the protective measure of electrical separation, each connecting point shall be protected by its own RCD of at least type A, having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
Where the EV charging station is equipped with a socket-outlet or vehicle connector complying with the IEC 62196 series, protective measures against DC fault current shall be taken, except where provided by the EV charging station. The appropriate measures, for each connection point, shall be as follows:
RCD type B; or
RCD type A and appropriate equipment that ensures disconnection of the supply in case of DC fault current above 6 mA.
RCDs shall comply with one of the following standards: IEC 61008-1, IEC 61009-1, IEC 60947-2 or IEC 62423.
_NOTICE_ When installing according to EV-Ready guidelines, every type A RCD shall have a high immunity: type HPI, SI, HI, KV … depending on the supplier.

RCBO
With overcurrent- and residual-current detection as described above.
_NOTICE_ The charge point is supplied with a DC fault detection device certified according to IEC 62955.
_NOTICE_ The charge point can be limited between 6 A and 32 A, as described in chapter 18.3. Configuration.
6.6. Accessory cable for EV- and ZE-Ready installation
Use a power cable for the additional isolator with the following specification:
3 x 1,5-4 mm2 - L1, N + PE;
Use shielded cable for underground wiring.
6.7. Additional isolator for EV- and ZE-Ready installation
This charge point supports the connection of an additional isolation function, as described in the EV-Ready 1.4 G regulation (EV3). In the event that the contactor of the charge point should be welded, the built-in welding detection will trigger a signal to which an external additional isolator can be connected.

6.8. Charge point mounting
For wall mounting, use 4 × coach screws (6 × 50 mm), washers and plugs.
For pole mounting on a concrete base, use fill sand to cover the hole of the concrete base for optimal stability.

Make sure to have a basic electricians toolkit when installing a Shell Recharge charge point.

7. Preparation
1. Cut the power to the circuit on which you plan to install the charge point.
2. Apply proper lockout-tagout equipment for personal safety.
3. Prepare the cabling, RCD and MCB according to local rules and regulations. It is also possible to use an RCBO if local rules and regulations allow it.
4. Apply labelling to the used circuit on the consumer unit for future reference.
5. Update the schedule of circuits to include the charge point installation.
6. Check the project plan for the selected network connection method of the Business Pro charge point. If the method is not cellular, prepare an Ethernet cable from an internet enabled (mobile) router to the Business Pro charge point location.
_NOTICE_ Do not strip or attach a connector to the Ethernet cable on the charge point side yet.
7. Label the Ethernet cable on the charge point side for reference during installation.
8. Check the project plan for the interconnection configuration and distance between every charge point.
9. Check the project plan for implementation of Dynamic Power Management for Business. If Dynamic Power Management for Business is implemented in the setup, prepare an Ethernet cable from the main circuit board of the building to either the Business Pro charge point or the unmanaged network switch, depending on the interconnection configuration.
10. Label the Ethernet cable on the charge point side for reference during installation.
11. Prepare Ethernet cables between every charge point location.
